It is easy to look around and compare. You see others and you think, "If I was just as [confident, anointed, smart, insert your other insecurities here] as them, then I could do and so much more. As we focus on the comparisons, the greater our self-doubt, insecurity, and self-condemnation becomes. Sometimes, it becomes so big that it's to the point where we give up because "why bother? what's the point? It's too hard. It’s impossible."
2 Corinthians 12:9 says, " But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
In the Greek text, the word translated as "perfect" is "τελειοῦται" (teleioutai), which is derived from the root word "τέλειος" (teleios). This root word "teleios" carries the meaning of completeness, fullness, or perfection. So, in this verse, "teleioutai” conveys the idea of something being brought to completion or perfected. Thus, You are enough, because HE is MORE THAN ENOUGH. Your weaknesses (insecurities, flaws) make room for His power and grace to fully operate in you.
The last part of this verse states, "so that Christ's power may rest on me". I encourage you to stop striving and allow the Holy Spirit to rest on you. His grace is ALL YOU NEED. Remember, it's not your strength, it's in His strength and power that things are perfected.
Dear God, may we humbly submit ourselves to you and release our strivings to be perfect. As we lay down our perfectionistic tendencies and attitudes, may we make room for the Holy Spirit to rest on us and may we receive your power and strength for us. God, we pray that when we speak, move, and breathe, it is all in You. Amen.
