Day 30: Tithing is not important.

Money can often be a sensitive topic when it comes to discussions about God. Many people harbor apprehensions and, frankly, misconceptions in this area. However, it's essential to understand that the Lord desires to bless us in every aspect of our lives, including our finances.

Psalm 35:27 says, “. . .Let the Lord be magnified, who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant.

He desires His children to be prosperous. In Genesis 26:12-13, we see how the Lord blessed Isaac: “Now Isaac sowed seed in the land, and that very year he reaped a hundredfold. And the LORD blessed him, and he became richer and richer, until he was exceedingly wealthy.

We are commanded to do the following with our finances:

Malachi 3:8-10 says, “Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, ‘In what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings. You are cursed with a curse, For you have robbed Me, Even this whole nation. Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.

The Lord graciously blesses us with income and requests that we return a portion, known as the tithe, to Him. The term "tithe" originates from the Greek word "dekate," meaning "a tenth part." It entails giving one-tenth of our earnings back to God. In fact, the Lord encourages us to test Him in this area, promising an overflow of blessings that we won't have enough room to contain.

Despite this clear command from God, many of us struggle with tithing. But why? Perhaps it's rooted in issues such as trust, pride, fear, rebellion, or greed. If tithing poses a challenge for you, take a moment to reflect on why that might be. Ask the Lord to search your heart, revealing the underlying reasons behind your hesitancy to tithe. Through His guidance, you'll gain clarity and insight into His will for you in this matter.

Dear God, I surrender my finances to you. Please show me your ways and bring conviction and clarity on how you want me to steward the money you have given me. Thank you for your direction. Amen.
