As a teenager, I came across a devotional that calculated the worth of the human body, valuing it at around a million dollars or more. Fast forward to 2024, and the estimated worth has soared to approximately $45 million if every organ and natural chemical were harvested. A heart alone is priced at about $1 million, while livers fetch around $557,000, and kidneys come in at $262,000 each. Even human skin carries a price tag of $10 per inch, with stomachs valued at $500 and eyeballs at $1,500 apiece. Despite this staggering appraisal, many of us still struggle with feelings of worthlessness. If you find yourself in that place, I empathize with you deeply. While our sense of worth may be influenced by our failures or our failure to meet others' expectations, it's important to remember that our feelings don't always align with God's truth.
What is God’s truth?
You are made in the image of God and according to His likeness (Genesis 1:26). You are a mini-version of Him!
He specifically chose you (Ephesians 1:4).
“He gave us resurrection life and drew us to Himself by His holy calling on our lives. And it wasn’t because of any good we have done, but by His divine pleasure and marvelous grace that confirmed our unions with the anointed Jesus, even before time began! (2nd Timothy 1:9 TPT)
Jesus was viciously beaten and killed on the cross so that you and I can live. (John 3:16). We don’t experience excruciating pain for someone we deem as worthless. We go through hard and agonizing things for the one we love and cherish. Jesus did the same for you because He believed you were worth the price.
There is nothing you need to do to make yourself more loveable or valuable to God. You already captured His heart even before you were born. You have always been and always will be the focus of His love!
Dear God, thank you for choosing me. Thank you that you see me as worthy and valuable. I pray that I am able to see myself the way you see me. Please open my eyes to Your truth and let me feel your tangible presence today. Amen.
Definitely a good reminder... Also I'm very surprised by those market prices! Lol
